I’m Maarit Räsänen, a humanist visualist and portrait photographer based in Jämsä. For me, portrait photography is a way of seeing and conveying a person’s character; through my images I look for the unique features and the warmth of the moment. I work primarily with personal portraits — portrait photography, headshots and personal images — and approach every session with openness, gentleness and close collaboration with the client. My studio, Kuvaamo, is a cozy natural-light studio in Jämsä, but I also shoot on location if you want the added narrative that an environment can bring to your portraits. My style leans on genuine expressions and calm interaction: I aim to make the shooting situation relaxing and safe, so your true self can emerge. I focus on showing both outward expression and inner presence — a small gesture, glance or stance often says more than a carefully posed posture. Although I specialize in personal portrait photography, I also offer corporate and professional headshots where a credible, professional image is essential. LinkedIn profiles, company staff photos and other business portraits are planned together so the final result serves its intended use and communicates the right message. My working method is planned yet flexible: I listen to your wishes, we decide together on the mood and visual style of the images, and I create a calm space during the session where you can be yourself. After the shoot I carefully edit the selected images — the goal is a timeless portrait that truly reflects you, one you can use proudly in both personal and professional contexts.
