Vekkuva is a portrait studio operating in Hamina, where portrait photography is more than technical skill — it’s a way to discover the story of an image through light. Vesa “Vekku” Hovi combines long experience, a commercial background and a passion for light so that every portrait communicates the subject authentically and personally. Our specialty is studio portraits, but we also shoot environmental portraits in Hamina’s historic wooden-house quarters and other agreed locations. The style is calm and people-centered: we focus on helping the subject relax and be themselves. Through conversation and small, clear directions we find natural expressions and poses — often the best images appear in the moments when photographer and subject find a shared rhythm. The portrait photography process always starts with planning. Together we agree on wishes, style and intended use (for example social profiles, LinkedIn, gift images or fine art prints). In the studio we make test shots and review images together so we can fine-tune lighting, wardrobe and expression on the spot.
