I’m Päkä Rehu — a portrait photographer and photographer based in Oulu who takes portrait photography seriously, but approaches people as people. I treat portrait work from a human perspective: the aim is for the shoot to feel natural and relaxed so personality can appear without artificiality. In my studio or in a location you choose, we build a mood that reflects the subject’s character and goals. Why choose me for your portrait? I combine solid technical knowledge with an intuitive eye for light, composition and expression — yet the most important skill is creating trust. A successful headshot or portrait is the sum of many elements: the right light, a calm atmosphere and a conversation before the session produce images with a sensitive, credible presence. I make portraits both from a more artistic viewpoint and for professional use: LinkedIn headshots, portfolio and performance photos are always executed with purpose. My working method is client-focused and clear. First we listen — what is the image’s goal, who is it speaking to and which expression supports the person best. Together we plan clothing, background and overall look. On the day of the shoot I aim to create a calm, encouraging atmosphere; I tether when needed so we can review images on a large screen immediately on location. In post-processing I fine-tune tones and contrast so the final result works well both online and in print. I also offer more specialised portrait options in the studio — if you wish we can combine classic studio lighting or experiment with wet-plate (wet plate) techniques for a more artistic outcome.
