I’m Joni Pystö, a portrait photographer based in Tampere whose passion is bringing out authentic, natural expressions. For me, portrait photography is a way to meet a person: to observe light, shape and the moment, and to create a shooting situation where the client’s personality can be shown at its best. At the heart of every session is a relaxed, encouraging atmosphere — few people feel at ease in front of a camera straight away, but with my experience everyone finds a natural pose and expression. My background in photography spans over 20 years and covers a wide range of situations, which shows in my calm working method and quick problem-solving during shoots. I photograph portraits for individuals as well as corporate profile images: I’ll help create the look you want for a new profile picture — whether a professional LinkedIn headshot or a characterful portrait for a portfolio. For corporate sessions I often combine portrait work with practical on-site solutions; I bring necessary backdrops and lighting to make shoots efficient during the working day. My working style is warm and client-centred. We usually start with a short conversation about your wishes and style, plan a suitable setting — at home, in the studio or outdoors — and I guide poses and expressions step by step. The shoot itself is intentionally straightforward: I want clients to relax and meet the camera without unnecessary tension. In post-production I focus on a natural look and careful finishing so the images work well in everyday and professional use. I live and work in Tampere, but I’m happy to photograph across the Pirkanmaa region. My particular strengths are portrait shots, corporate profiles and expressive portraits that highlight each client’s individuality.
