I’m photographer Hilja Mustonen, based in Turku, and as a portrait photographer my goal is to bring out genuine expressions and personality in every image. For me, portrait photography is a way to tell a person’s story through the frame: I aim to create a relaxed atmosphere where clients can be themselves and show their best without stiffness. My approach is calm and people-centered. During the session I provide gentle guidance when needed — I don’t force poses, but rather look for natural movement and authentic expression. I pay close attention to lighting and composition, because these elements shape the mood and character of a portrait. Whether working in the studio or on location, I combine technical care with a relaxed atmosphere so the result is both professional and true to the subject. I specialise in professional LinkedIn and corporate portraits as well as passport photos, where a clear and trustworthy appearance is paramount. For businesses and professionals, a portrait often functions as a digital business card and a communication tool, which is why we approach each shoot purposefully: we agree on the desired expression, background and intended use beforehand. At the same time I ensure the session runs smoothly and remains as comfortable as possible for the client.
