I specialise in portrait photography — I am portrait photographer Minna Kähtävä and Kuvatoive Oy operates in Jupperi, Espoo. For me, portrait photography is a way of seeing a person as they truly are: the images are not meant to be perfect, but meaningful. My aim is to create portraits that feel right now and still move you years from now. I work in a calm, intimate studio environment where the atmosphere is designed to remove performance pressure. Our studio’s look is pared-down: white or black backgrounds, unobtrusive composition and considered lighting. I believe less is more — emotion and expression are the image’s most important elements; technique supports them without drawing attention away from the person. My process is clear and effortless for the client. We start with a conversation about your wishes and the message you want the image to convey. In the studio I provide gentle guidance on expression and posture so the session stays naturally relaxed. I don’t ask you to act; I want you to come as you are. Final images are delivered in an easy online gallery, where you can select and purchase the exact files you want to keep. Although portrait photography is at the core of my work, I also create images that support life’s different stages and professional visibility: personal portraits, profile and corporate headshots, as well as family and maternity photography. I approach these assignments with the same sensitivity and presence, while portrait sessions remain my speciality — focusing on expression, the strength of the gaze and storytelling within a single frame. I also offer short, practical photography workshops in the studio — a hands-on hour where I teach how to build an impactful profile image or how to control light and expression in your own photos.
