I’m Kristiina Mattila and HRK Design is a portrait photographer based in Järvenpää. My passion is to capture people’s expressions, gazes and personality authentically — not just stage a nice picture, but find the moments that tell more. Portrait photography for me is both meticulous and joyful: I want clients to feel natural and to bring out their best expression in the images. My specialties include portraits for different occasions: graduation photos, CV and portfolio shots, as well as professional images suited for LinkedIn and corporate use. My approach is based on conversation and calm direction — we usually begin with a short chat, discuss style and background together, and build a shooting session that highlights the client’s strengths. I also work with a mobile studio, so sessions can be arranged flexibly either in my studio or at a pre-agreed location. My style combines careful composition with an immediate, natural atmosphere: I aim for natural light and genuine expressions, but when needed I use backdrops and studio lighting techniques to achieve bright, professional results. In portrait work, small details matter — how the eyes are positioned, the tilt of the shoulders, how light sculpts the face — and I pay close attention to these elements. As a photographer I’ve worked extensively with people and applied my interpersonal skills especially in portrait and sports photography. This experience helps me create relaxed, natural situations in portrait sessions as well. I want the session to feel easy and even fun: often the best images appear when the tension has eased.
