I’m Gerda Koort, a portrait photographer based in Mellunkylä, and portrait photography is my way of exploring a person’s expression and presence. My specialism is creating portraits that feel natural and honest — focusing on genuine looks and the small, telling details that make each subject unique. For me the most important thing is to build a calm, trustworthy atmosphere where your personality can come through without artifice. I work with both private clients and businesses: I photograph professional portraits, LinkedIn headshots and corporate imagery that highlight credibility and authenticity. In my work I combine a warm, documentary-style approach with careful studio technique — the result is timeless portrait photography that works equally well for personal keepsakes and professional profiles. My shooting process is intentionally centered on your needs. Before the session we talk about your goals and the intended use of the images so that expressions, backgrounds and wardrobe choices support the message you want to convey. During the shoot I work calmly and with clear guidance: small exercises and friendly conversation help you relax in front of the camera and bring out a genuine smile or a confident look. In post-production I focus on balancing light, color and expression so the final images form a harmonious whole — pictures that feel right for you. As a photographer I’m motivated by meeting people and by how a small gesture or a look can tell a lot of a person’s story.
